Skills
Life Skills is a well researched model of experiential
learning. Through a group or individual process, Life Skills promotes
self awareness and effective interpersonal communication resulting in
enhanced self confidence and empowered choices for the individual. The
Vision To become a national leader in promoting public awareness
about the benefits of Life Skills and the value of Professional Life Skill
Coaches within our Society. The
Mission AAPLSC supports and enhances the professional development of Life Skills Coaches, setting standards for excellence and promoting life management skills in the community. Objectives 1. To support Life Skills Coaches in strengthening their
advocacy, counseling skills, program development and delivery skills through
professional development opportunities. 2. To provide Association Members and employers of Life
Skills Coaches with a standard Code of Practices. 3. To provide a network of support and resource sharing
among Life Skills Professionals via formal and informal liaisons. 4. To promote public awareness of the practice and value
of Life Skills Coaching that is based on the Saskatchewan New Start Model. 5. To liaise with educational institutions that develop
philosophies and practices which reinforce Life Skills Coach training
programs. 6. To advocate on behalf of Life Skills Coaches regarding
training, internship and employment. 7. To develop a set of standards for agencies that request
Life Skills Coach interns completing their group certification. 8. To create an employment resource list for Association
Members. 9. To facilitate the process through which Certified Life
Skills Coaches become Accredited Trainers. |
