Twenty members from five provinces met, worked, partied and worked some more (and partied some more). We came up with the following committees and tasks:

NETWORKING

Objective:

to construct a functional communication network for the purpose of information gathering, storing, processing, disseminating;

to facilitate dialogue and understanding - individually, regionally and nationally.

Tasks:

• Internet Website
• Newsletter
• Membership list maintained in a database
• Fees/money management for CALSCA bank account (everyone keep track of your expenses, not because you'll be reimbursed but for future budget planning.)

MEMBERSHIP

Objective:

to promote CALSCA in its commitment to existing and potential coaches and associations.

Tasks:

• Develop a roster by contacting national associations
• Start a process to identify criteria for membership
• Develop a membership package (the message to be inclusion)
• Work with Networking and Outreach committees

OUTREACH

Objective:

to locate and inform individuals who may be supportive of the CALSCA Mission Statement

Tasks:

• Contact coaches associations
• Identify alternative agencies, contact Provinces where possible
• contact and inform trainers
• Information to graduates, native organizations, reserves
• Community organizations ie: CEC, vocational schools

ETHICS

Objective:

to develop a code of behaviours/ethics/standards

Tasks:

• Gather and compare others' codes
• What is Life Skills?
• Present a working paper re ethics and standards, a statement of the spirit of inclusion, trust in the process, a living document

CONFERENCE Objective:

to organize the 1996 meeting and begin preparations for a national conference

Tasks:

• Make it more possible for the East to attend next year's meeting
• Contact Quebec Association of Life Skills Coaches to set up time and place of 1996 meeting.
• Suggested date: May 31 to June 2, 1996
